Kids Town’s mission is to help children take their next step towards God. There are 4 separate ministries that work together to help children learn the message of Jesus Christ;
Tiny Tots Zoo (nursery), Little Oaks Chapel (Pre-K), UpStreet (elementary), and the Kids Town Registration Team, which is responsible for signing in children and welcoming first time guests to Kids Town.
We strive to make Kids Town exciting and safe, but we especially want it to be life-changing. Because the average child in the U.S. attends church for only 40 hours annually, Kids Town has a narrow focus on what is emphasized throughout the year.
The teaching in Kids Town revolves around “Basic Truths.” These Basic Truths are:
TINY TOTS ZOO
“God Made the World!”
LITTLE OAKS CHAPEL
“God Made Me.”
“God Loves Me,”
“God Wants Me to Love Others.”
“I can Trust God No Matter What,”
“I need to Make the Wise Choice,”
“I Should Treat Others the Way I Want to be Treated.”
Throughout the year we emphasize these Basic Truths as we teach the Bible in an engaging and age-appropriate way.
How can I be involved?
There are many ways for you to serve God in Kids Town. You can serve as a teacher, a helper, a nursery caregiver, or at the Kids Town Registration Desk. Every new member of the Kids Town team must meet with Pastor Dan for an orientation and also complete a simple application and background check consent form. Time commitments and expectations vary according to ministry.
After the orientation you will have the opportunity to observe your preferred ministry before making a commitment. Schedules throughout Kids Town are made a year at a time so we ask that you please commit to serving in Kids Town for one year. Every year the entire Kids Town team is given the opportunity to continue serving in Kids Town or to begin serving in a different ministry.
We have a TERRIFIC time in Kids Town each week. If you enjoy kids, and do well in an energetic environment, we ask that you consider serving God in Kids Town. If your ready to serve then go ahead and fill out the Volunteer Application and submit it to Lisa Lee here. If you have any specific questions about Kids Town feel free to give Pastor Dan a call at 309-383-4330 or via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Because we take seriously the safety of each child we require that every parent or guardian check-in their child each week of Kids Town. We have streamlined the process by allowing all children to be checked in at the Kids Town Check-In Station located in the main lobby. Each child is given a ID Badge that includes their Name, ID# and Age group. If you are needed for anything during the service your ID# will appear on the LCD screen to the right or left of the stage in the adult worship center. We will provide you with two parent tags at the time you sign your child in to Kids Town.
Also, we require that you show this number to the volunteer who is charge of the check-out for each classroom at the time of picking up your child. The number on your ID Badge must match the number given to your child at the time of check-in.
